Don't you want your kids to have a world-wide perspective, an awareness beyond their own city and country?
It's a beautiful thing to learn and relate to cultures and peoples beyond our own! Along that vein, I had the advantage of being raised in a multicultural home. Sometimes I forget how rich and varied the fabric of my own family is!
I especially want my children to grow up with a sense of God's worldwide presence and activity. I'd like to share a video with you that can help do just that!
Watch this 10 minute video to see the Kimyal people, an indigenous tribe of Indonesia, joyfully receive their first copies of the New Testament.
Warning: we showed this video to our children after we had previewed it, but we first talked with them about the strange dress, singing, etc. so they wouldn't be shocked or frightened by it, but see the video and have their first impressions be positive.
To give you a little backdrop...40 years ago, pioneering missionary Phil Masters was killed and cannibalized by a neighboring tribe...and last fall Phyllis Masters (widow of Phil) was there at the distribution of the Bibles. Read more here.
